Fundraising is a great way to kick-off 2011! As we saw in 2010, many of these fundraising campaign ideas are great opportunities for you to spend time with your fellow cheerleaders and raise serious money for your team or organization. With that, we’ve compiled a list with some great do-it-yourself fundraising campaign ideas for you and your squad to use. Make Your Own Pom Poms – One of the quickest ways to raise money for your squad and support your team at the same time is to create pom poms and sell spirit items at sports events and school functions. Consider asking an administrator if you can sell your homemade pom poms in the school store. Make Hair Bows – Another easy way to raise money for your cheerleading squad is to make cheerleader hair bows or hair ribbons. This fundraising campaign simply requires your cheerleaders to purchase hair ties and tying your team’s colors onto hair bows or hair ribbons. The supplies for this fundraising idea are generally inexpensive and can usually be purchased at your local arts & crafts store. Bake Sale – Need I say more? Who doesn’t like chocolate and/or cake? “Buy a Cheerleader” Auction – have your squad host a school-wide auction to “rent a cheerleader’ for a day to carry their books, stand in the lunch line or whatever else you may need during the course of the school day. Some other extremely profitable fundraising campaign ideas include: ordering and selling your own spirit items (like cups, stickers or shirts with your school’s mascot, logo or team colors), hosting a cake walk or a car wash, Cash for Cans recycling drive and Fun “D’-2-Raise Cards.
